Presence Sensing not working

kamielvandoorss
Community Member

At home we're using Google Home as platform to control our lights, thermostate and Chromecast.

One housemember has an iPhone (Here everything works fine). I'm using Android, and the presence sensing isn't working at all.

App permissions for location are set to always allow. Background activity is allowed aswel.

What more can I do so the app knows when someone is at home? Feeling frustrated about this, because this is something easy that should work..

Someone any ideas?

Thanks!

Hey folks,

Thanks for reaching out.

To confirm, did you set up a Home and Away Routines? How many members do you have in your household? Did you set up the mobile phone’s location to be used for presence sensing.

  • Enter the home address and confirm it by placing a pin on the map.

You can check this guide for more information.

Hey eighty666,

Thanks for the update.

If you have more than one home member it could be impacted by a known issue if the other home member has disabled their phone location settings. The other member of the home should:

  1. Turn on geofence toggle in the Nest App or Home App, as well as at the OS level.
  2. Leave the geofence. Confirm in the appropriate app’s history to verify the crossing was recorded.
  3. Turn off geofence toggle in the Nest or Home app while outside the geofence.
  4. This will reset them to being permanently Away, allowing automation to work for everyone else in the home.
  5. There will be a fix in an upcoming update. Maintain general positioning and do not allude or suggest a date on when the issue will be fixed.

Thanks,

Alex

this has nothing to do with the fact that all versions after 2.49 are broken

there is a fix: remove the broken v2.5 branched app and use v2.47 because it isn't broken

Hey eighty666,

That would be helpful however, we don't have a way to revert back to the old version. We're always looking for ways to improve and we'll take it as feedback.
