Routine toolbar overlap

wolispace

I don't know how to share this feedback, and is anyone else having the same problem?

Trying to edit a routine in Google home app on my Pixel9a updated to Android 16 recently.

The toolbar with save, cancel delete copy etc.. is overlapping the home screen notification bar and I can interact with the routine to save.

I have to ask, but did you try closing all apps and restarting your phone?

With a top quality phone you probably have this done automatically every day.

I only have Android 15 and everything is where it should be.

Yes, rebooted and problem still persists. Looks like others on Android 16 have the same problem.

So you have Android 16?

Hi folks!

Thank you for posting in the community, and to @SmartHomeH-TAGS for jumping in! I'm sorry to hear you're experiencing an issue with the Google Home app on your Pixel 9a running Android 16, specifically with the overlapping toolbar preventing you from saving routine edits. I appreciate your efforts in taking those steps before. I'm happy to help you!

To help me find the best solution, I'll need to ask you a few questions:

  • What Google Home app version are you currently using?
  • Were you enrolled in Public Preview when this issue occurred? Here's an article to help you check: Public Preview for Google Home app.
  • When did you first start experiencing this issue?

Please keep me posted. I'll be waiting for your response.

Best regards,
Geremi

Security update just installed

Sadly same issue persists.

I setup my routines several years ago only older Pixel devices and older software. Worked perfectly then.

When I try now using my Pixel9a running latest software dit has the overlap issue.

What happens when you try editing a routing using latest versions of Android and Home app?

Same here with Home App version 3.35.55.0 and BP2A.250605.031.A2 on my Pixel 6.

Just checking, do you see the same overlapping (implying it happens to everyone) or is it just us two (implying it's device specific)?

I sent feedback in the home app when I first noticed the issue.

Sadly there is no way in the feedback to send a screenshot of the issue as it only sends one screen shot from the screen where feedback was triggered, and we can't trigger feedback while editing routines.

I have re sent feedback on your suggestion.

Anyone else having the same problem?

Or more importantly is anyone else not having the same problem?

I have also sent a feedback but without a screenshot. See @wolispace's explanation.

To reproduce this issue:

  • open Google Home App
  • go to Automations
  • create a new one

You should see the overlapping icons in the top bar.
