Thermostat has mind of its own

All I want to do is set my thermostat A/C for 75 and leave it. Why can't I do that? This product is inferior to the manual thermostat in my parents' home because it thinks it knows what I want better than I do. I don't want OPTIONS, I want the thing to work.

It either (a) makes me set for a limited period of time, so I have to reset daily or (b) on Eco, defaults to 82 degrees.  Also when you touch the side it works once, then defaults to a home screen which you can't get out of.

Seriously, now I've "earned a badge"?  This is inane.

Hi folks,

Thanks for reaching out and apologies for the late response.

@HealthEdHaze, thanks for the help.

@Kevin10, I'm sorry if you have to go through this. We'd like you to have a better experience. Let's sort this out.

For Nest Learning Thermostat and Nest Thermostat E, please give these steps a try:

  • On the device, go to Settings > Eco Temperature > Turn off both "Heat to" and "Cool to".
  • Then, Settings > Nest Sense > Auto-Schedule. Turn it off to disable it.
  • Lastly, Settings > Reset > Schedule > Clear/Reset. Then, follow the prompt to restart.

On the Nest Thermostat 2020, remove or clear all schedules and remove temperature presets. Here's the link on how.

Let me know if that helps.

Thanks,

Mark

Listen this product is just not for me. It makes something simple needlessly complex by loading on useless options. I got my landlord to replace it. Thanks for the help, anyway.

Hi folks,

@Princesss, I appreciate the follow-up on this thread.

I'm sorry for the inconvenience, @Kevin10. I totally understand that troubleshooting can be frustrating, but those are the most helpful steps to figure out what's going on with your device. Do you mind me asking if your landlord replaced the same Nest Thermostat? Also, were there any changes after doing the steps above?

Looking forward for your response.

Best regards,

Mark

When you manually adjust the temperature, the temperature will stick until the next scheduled temperature change. If you don’t want the temperature to change by that point, but don’t want to change or remove your temperature schedule, you can hold the temperature.

Which thermostat do you have?  The hold temperature feature is not available for The Nest Thermostat E or Nest Learning Thermostat.
