Unable to use to use google automation from the google app

Hello, I used to be able to control Google speakers and displays from my app. Today, I am no longer able to use "Hey Google" from the app to announce a message, turn off an alarm, etc. I can only edit settings such as the alarm and volume etc. Please help.

On Android phones you don't have to have the Google Home app open to use the wake words "Hey Google" to activate the Google Assistant. 

In fact you could say "Hey Google" with the phone locked.

You need to visit Assistant Settings to confirm that the Google Assistant is still enabled. 

Press and hold the Home button (usually activates the Google Assistant) and say "open Assistant Settings" 

Select 'Hey Google and Voice Match'. 

Enable "Hey Google"
