Unnecessary Error Messages from Google Home & Home Assistant

Stefan_GER
Community Member

For the past several days, I've been facing a puzzling issue with Google Home: it's issuing unnecessary error messages when I control devices connected through Nabu Casa/Home Assistant.

For example, when I say, "Hey Google, turn on the smart fan," I hear the error message (set to german), "Entschuldigung, das kann ich im Moment nicht machen," which translates to "Sorry, I can't do that right now." Ironically, the smart fan does turn on, rendering the error message entirely unnecessary and misleading.

This issue affects both individual voice commands and Google Home routines that involve Home Assistant devices. It has been consistently occurring for about five days, although there are isolated cases where the problem doesn't appear.

Hi @Stefan_GER

I have had the same this week with a smart plug fan. I suggest immediately filing a feedback report when this happens next.  I will also let the Community Specialist know.

Hey folks,

Thanks for posting in the Community.

@Stefan_GER, I appreciate all the details you've shared. Based on how you described it, it is still working as intended except its responses. Could you tell us what are the languages set on your Google Nest speakers? Also, aside from Nabu Casa, do you have other home automation devices that you're trying to control with and give you the same results? We want to

By the way, big thanks to @JillG, for chiming in to this thread.

I look forward to your responses.

Best,

Princess

Hello Princess,

thanks for your reply.

By now i observed the issue only on devices linked into GH via HA.

The Google Nest's and Hubs are set to german.

Hello Stefan,

Thanks for the additional details.

Could you please try setting your language to English US as your primary language and German as your secondary language? Before doing so, reboot your Google Nest speakers and router simply by unplugging them from the power source for at least a few minutes. Let's see if this would make any changes on its behavior.

Best,

Princess

I did, but you usually do not get feedback on those.
