White Noise plays when not scheduled

One of my Google Home mini's and a Lenovo Clock with Google Assistant built-in have started playing White Noise at 5am Mon-Friday with no prompt that I'm aware of. I can find no Routines or Automations on any of my devices that might account for this unexpected change in behavior. The issue started approx 4 weeks ago. I've never had a routine or other action defined or set at 5am so was very surprised when this started.

Can anyone provide guidance on how to identify where the trigger for this is coming from? Or, reset my account so that this action goes away?

Thanks for any suggestions!

So, how's this for curious behavior. After more testing, I learned that the white noise was coming from my daughter's "Home" which is outside of my Home and with no connection to my home. Until about a year ago, she lived with me and her devices were a part of my home. When she moved, she left them connected to my home for a period of time and then removed them and created her own home. After that, I removed her as a member of my household. She recently changed the settings on her "Bedroom" speaker which seems to have created the trigger which started the white noise on my speakers. In my home, the Lenovo Clock and the Home Mini speaker where in a group named "Beedroom" and that was the name of a Home Mini in her bedroom. Whenever she issued the command, "Play White Noise on Bedroom Speaker" via a Routine in her Home, the action started on my two speakers called "Bedroom" in my Home.

We don't understand how this could/would happen. Especially after many months of her devices not being in my Home and none of my devices ever having been in her home.

I'm inclined to call this a "Bug".

To resolve, I deleted the Bedroom group and deleted the Home Mini from my Home. Then re-added the Home Mini. After these changes, her home settings are no longer affecting my devices.

Hey SteveE-NC,

Sorry for the late reply. I am glad to hear you were able to resolve the issue on your own. I wanted to follow up with you, and see if you had any further questions from here. Please let me know, as I would be happy to take a closer look.

Best regards,

Jake

Thanks Jake. It's totally resolved. It's just completely unclear why it happened in the first place. Since my daughter's Nest systems haven't been in my house for over a year and she no longer has access to my "home" within my Google Home settings, it should never have happened. I'd hate to think that my home devices might be accessible to someone else in their Home settings. If anything like it ever happens in the future, I'll feel compelled to remove all of my Google/Nest gear and move to that other Assistant platform.

Hey SteveE-NC,

There is no need to worry. No one will be able to access your devices unless they have added them to the app on their phone. Since your daughter had previously had access to the devices through her phone, she was able to still control some of them. Here is an article that has more details on Family Accounts. I hope this helps.

Best regards,

Jake
