Looking for a way to change the name or create a new face from an incorrectly identified person from my Nest Doorbell. People will be mis-identified by camera and there is no way to change their name other than deleting the face from the other persons identification. There should be an option to rename, or move that face to a new person. There was a thread from 2021 that was closed with no resolution. Seems like a simple request.

Hi Clem21,
Thanks for sharing your thoughts about this. Absolutely, it'd be great to just change the name of the mistakenly identified person in the Nest app or Google Home app. Let's check this out — a few questions:
Give these steps a try:
Google Home app
Nest app
Let me know how it goes.
Thanks,
JT

Its a Nest Battery Doorbell. The app has always done this. Say Bob comes to the door and rings the bell. He gets mis-identified as Mary in the app.If you look under Mary, you see ID photos of her, and now one of Bob. You can only delete the one of Bob, not use it to set up a new face in the app.You should be able to edit, or rename that face ID as the correct person. The way the app is currently setup, you can't edit a face once it is under another name. You can create a new name, but you can't use that photo for the new Face ID.

You never responded to my follow up. Why can't a face that is mis-identified be edited and used to create a new ID?

Hi there,
Understood. Let's have a better look, if your camera identifies someone incorrectly, you should delete incorrect snapshots in the face library as soon as possible. This will reduce the chance of that person being misidentified again. Give the steps below a shot to see if it works.
Home app:
Nest app:
Tap Delete to remove those snapshots.
Let me know how it works.
Cheers,
JT

Yes I know that works, why can't the incorrect face be assigned to a new contact instead of just deleting a good image?

Hi there,
Understood. If none of those steps helped. Try to factory reset your Nest Doorbell (battery), you may check this article for your guide.
Let me know how it goes.
Best regards,
JT
