If I don’t take the Nest Aware, do I still get 24 hour surveillance?

I have just read that with Nest Aware I get 24 hour surveillance. Does this mean that if I don’t subscribe to Nest Aware, I don’t get 24 hour surveillance?

• Straight out of the box, you can watch your Nest camera’s live video stream for free.
• If want to go back and view recorded video, you can view snapshots of events up to 3 hours in the past. 
• If it’s your first camera, you’ll also be able to use a free trial Nest Aware subscription for a limited time. Depending on your region, a free trial may be unavailable due to privacy restrictions.
