Nest Aware 25% Price Increase

Just got an email from Google advising my Nest Aware renewal price will be increasing from $120/yr to $150/yr - a 25% YoY increase with no improvements in features or services and no explanation for such an outrageous increase.

This is complete B.S..    My income sure the Hell didn’t go up anywhere close to 25% last year, and if all my expenses went up by 25%, I’d be out of business.

Beyond this ridiculous increase, Google has also announced that they will soon discontinue support for the Nest app in favor of the Google Home app.  WTF - The Nest app is much easier to use/navigate and a far superior app.   Way to screw this up as well!

Also, several of their cameras (i.e.  Nest Floodlight) come in a whopping 1 color choice.  Get your spray paint ready if you don’t want this to stick out like a sore thumb against your dark color trim.   Check out the Wyze or Ring floodlights for less money and more features.

it seems like every other week Google /Nest is doing something stupid to push customers away.    In my case, it’s working.

Thanks Google for screwing up the Nest products we all loved for so many years.

@Jscavellier

We got the same increase, effective the next time our annual subscription is due, in June 2024.

It's probably not much consolation, but this is the first increase in the Nest Aware Plus subscription price since it was first introduced in May 2020.

We're hoping that before they phase out the Nest app (that will still take awhile, I think), they port over the Nest app functionality to the Google Home app. This thread has some very detailed information on the functionality they need to move to achieve parity:
