I replaced a failed outdoor nest camera with new outdoor battery Google camera and I need it added to my existing nest aware account. Replacement camera works and I get notifications. The new replacement camera appears on my iPhone nest aware main page with the other 4 existing cameras but not on my Laptop W10 (web browser version?). How do I get it to show up in my laptop?
It looks like you are discovering what the rest of us who have purchased the new Google Nest cameras and doorbells released in the fall of 2021 have discovered. Rather illogically, these Google Nest cameras and doorbells do NOT work with the Google Nest app or the home.nest.com website, they lack some of the functionality of existing Google Nest cameras, and they ONLY work with the Google Home app.
Also, we purchased Google's optional power cable for our new Google Nest Battery camera so that we could get 24/7 recording on Nest Aware as we do with our existing Google Nest cameras. If the new battery cable is not plugged into don't get 24/7 recording.
Google has posted its perspective on why they did this in these blogs on this forum, where you can also see a large number of customer reactions:
The reason the new Google Nest Battery Camera can't be accessed from your Windows 10 laptop (or any computer) is that, unfortunately, Google does not let us access that camera from its home.nest.com website, which provides browser access to our other Google Nest cameras and doorbells. (One of Google's blogs says: "Although Nest Doorbell (battery) is not compatible with home.nest.com, we’ve been working on rolling out a desktop experience for the Google Home app, so the new Nest cameras and doorbell feeds can be viewed and controlled from there. This will launch in 2022." (Yes, it doesn't make sense that that access doesn't already exist.)
One end of the optional weatherproof cable for the Google Nest Battery Camera (https://store.google.com/product/nest_cam_weatherproof_cable?hl=en-US) plugs into your power outlet and the other end plugs into the bottom of the camera--where it is attached magnetically--with the cable facing the front of the camera (see the image). (Yes that's odd, as many have pointed out, and some have connected it backwards, in which case the camera is not connected to power.) These are Google's instructions: https://support.google.com/googlenest/answer/10919314?hl=en-CA&co=GENIE.Platform%3DAndroid.
I hope this helps. (I'm just another Google Nest customer, one who bought the new battery camera and has been using two apps instead of one to access our Nest cameras for the last 3 months.)
If you are using two apps instead of one to access your Nest cameras, how/where do I get the '2nd' one that would allow me to view my new 'Google Nest Battery camera' with 'nest aware' on my 'Windows 10 laptop'? Thanks as you have been very helpful to date explaining the situation...
Sigh. You cannot access the new Google Nest Battery Camera from your Windows 10 laptop because the home.nest.com website that permits us to access our Google Nest cameras does not include the new Google Nest cameras and doorbells released in the fall of 2021. Google is making vague promises that they are going to add a new website (in 2022?) that will eventually let us access all of our Google Nest cameras and doorbells from our computers. Right now, we can only access our old Google Nest cameras and doorbells on our computers and laptops (using home.nest.com). On our mobile devices, the new cameras can only be seen in the Google Home app (where we can also view but not administer our old cameras) and the old cameras can only be administered in the Google Nest app.
I give up on Plan A!!! Onto Plan B before I throw out all cameras and take my business elsewhere...
Not sure how I got here but trying to turn on the new Google camera (battery) with Google Home app. The issue is... "Remount this device to see live video ...". HOW DO I 'REMOUNT'??? What is a remount?
UNF'INGBELIEVABLE!!! That was the solution I wasted 3 days trying to sort out. This Google package is absolute CRAP; NO instructions! That term has NEVER been mentioined before in any of their documentation. My thanks to 'MplsCustomer'; I never would have gotten this far without your help!!!
