Setting up phone in Google home is not recognised in Nest

Set up phone for presence sensing in Home... Nest says it's not using my phone, so I set it up there ... home/away doesn't work at all. Go back to Google Home and it says a different phone is being used... set it back, and now Nest says my phone is not being used!

Hi Patrickwillis,

Yikes! I'm sorry to hear that setting up your phone in Google Home is not recognized in your Nest account. Let's get this fixed for you.

  1. Make sure your phone has the permissions needed for the Nest and Google Home apps to access location services. Make sure that both apps have permission to access your location by going to the settings on your phone and checking the app permissions.
  2. Verify that the Nest and Google Home apps are the most recent versions installed on your phone. Compatibility problems or errors can occasionally be brought on by outdated app versions. If there are any updates available, download and update the applications from their respective app stores—the Google Play Store for Android and the Apple App Store for iOS.
  3. If the same thing persists, remove the Nest and Google Home apps from your phone and reinstall them if updating the apps doesn't fix the problem. This can assist in removing any configuration problems or cached data that might be impairing the presence detection functionality.
  4. Verify once more that your phone has location and Wi-Fi enabled. Make sure both location data and your phone's connection to your home Wi-Fi network are working properly, as presence detection depends on both.
  5. Sometimes, a simple restart of your phone can help resolve temporary glitches or conflicts. Try restarting your phone and see if that improves the presence sensing functionality.

Let us know how it goes.

Best,

Zoe
