I purchased 12 nest protects (10 wired 2 batteries). Unfortunately, my son installed all of them (but the last 3...which I did today) and he threw away the old smoke/co detectors in my house. The old ones, not NEST, were 10 years old and chirping because of the 10 year expiration on the CO detector. Which forced me to remove/replace them.
So I buy brand new NEST PROTECTS from THE GOOGLE STORE (not a 3rd party), and I checked the ones I installed today and they are minimum 17 months old. Some are a full 2 years old...the battery units are the oldest. And yes...the little plastic piece was still installed and therefore the batteries should not have discharged much. But 2 yr old unit with 2+ yr old batteries.
I've now been on a 2+ hr chat with Google Support and they keep transferring me from agent to agent. I'm on my 6th agent. They have tried saying many times that because these havent been used, they are NEW. But if they only have 8 (of 10) years left in their lifespan....then how is that NEW? I am copying my CHAT SESSION every couple of minutes for proof of the NONSENSE that's occurring with this chat.
FRAUD!

2.5 hrs and still on the chat session....7 total agents (they are just bouncing me around until I give up).
They are NOW telling me that the ONLY option is to return all of the smoke alarms for a full refund. not PARTIAL REFUND option.
