Spectrum.net provides IP6/IP4 compliant routers in my area. Spectrum also controls the configuration of the device - the user cannot manually set anything on the router. Nest Protect gen 2 devices require access to a 2.4 GHz channel - this apparently is not a configuration 2024 era Spectrum.net provided routers will support (they are multi-band and an internal algorithm switches between RF channels - you cannot control this aspect yourself). The fix, I'm told by Spectrum.net technical support (I'll find out soon enough), is to purchase a third-party explicitly dual-band (2.4 GHz and 5 GHz) router so that each channel band can be given a unique name: have the Next Protect connect only with the 2.4 GHz channel WiFi name. This problem of Nest Protect connectivity has existed for too long, and moves by ISPs have made the situation even poorer. Poor showing by all the OEMs/ISPs, all around. WiFi connection issues remain a source of client frustration

Since 5ghz has a shorter range, could you not just move the router and protect farther apart to connect them?
I use nest wifi, which is similar in that it doesn't allow for separating 2.4 Nd 5ghz.. the protects still connected just fine. Have you tried yet ?
