We have received multiple warnings for smoke when there is no smoke, steam, no one has cooked in hours, etc.
I’ve read the articles and cleaned accordingly. I closely followed the suggestions on where to install. We are still having the same issue after cleaning. Now we are concerned if the unit is working properly (CO and smoke). The unit is 4.5 years old.
Hopefully someone from Nest can help out. Thank you in advance.

I am having the exact same problem. Alarm continues to go off detecting smoke when no smoke is in the room. I have replaced the back up batteries to my smoke alarm that is connected to an electrical power source. Finally I had to completely disconnect to get the smoke alarm from going off. I could not get the smoke alarm to give me a message that the smoke sensor had failed. I also reformatted the smoke alarm to the factory settings and ithe alarm continued to go off. Can someone give me advice on how to deal with this?

I haven’t heard anything further and can’t find any useable fixes.
Tonight it went off waking up and scaring the kid. Two nights of this is two nights too many!

Having same issue. Even had the Fire Company come to double check. Anyone found a solution yet?

I reached out to nest via their chat service. We spent 45 minutes going over different things. In the end we ended up resetting it and repairing it to the app.
I was told a warrantee claim was placed but I haven’t received the confirm yet email yet.

Will give the reset a try. Have to find a time when the dogs can be outside for a bit. They hate the smoke detector 😂. Thank You

Got a chance to do a factory reset. Started to do the false warning as soon as I scanned the back of the device. Uggh. Will be calling support. Have already tried everything suggested by chat support.

Contacted support via phone. Was told I would be emailed about a refund or replacement, instead I was emailed that nothing could be done because my warranty expired about a year ago. A ten year product that lasted less than 4 years? No thanks to purchasing another one.

I agree. I've had mine around three years. I was told I will get an email within 24-48 hours regarding a warranty claim, but I've received nothing.
If it doesn't work after 3 years, how can it work for 10? A fair amount of people having these same issues doesn't instill much confidence that they are actually working?

There are two possibilities I see here.
1: Defective sensor and the unit failing to notice defect.
2: Dust and/or Spiderweb. If you have done all cleaning tips, including using compressed air, you have possibility #1. Contact Nest, and see if you can redeem warranty. Otherwise buy a new detector.

Please see above. I went through all of the suggestions and contacted support. Resetting the device, again, was the answer after they couldn't figure out what was wrong. They told me they would send a warranty claim, they didn't.
