Hello everyone,
I have 6 GOOGLE nest smoke co deterctors in my home. As the systems have a limited lifespan of 10 years I knew that GOOGLE offered a special replacement/upgrade when one of the units would have to be replaced at end of life.
Now I read somewhere that GOOGLE does not continue the good old nest protection system and offers a nerw product mad ein cooperation with yale.
I am now interested if the nest customers who use the nest V2 at home get a special price when they switch to the new smoke/co detectors. A replacement with a new nest will not be possible I guess.
How will google serve and help those customers?
My oldest sensors were mad ein 2018 and would need replacement in 2028.
Best greetings

I don't think Google Nest ever offered a special replacement/upgrade price at the end of a Nest Protect's 10-year lifespan. We don't have any Nest Protects, but all smoke detectors and carbon monoxide detectors have a 10-year lifespan. Our Kidde carbon monoxide detectors, they automatically shut down after 10 years.

Thanx for your reply,
with googles decision to stop nest protect production I would loose one or two of my isntalled devices every year until 2031 when the latest device which was manufactured in 2021 will reach its end of life.
Now with no chance to replace each device when it would have to be replaced I guess this is the end of my cooperation with google nest. Those devices were expensive but great.
Now I found on Germany Amazon a set of 6 (SIX) XSENSE WLAN connected smoke detectors which can also speak for just 140 EUR. My new protection for much less money which does not hurt that much when a unit needs to be replaced, or when the manufacturer quits production all in a sudden.
Best greetings
