Hey there!

Thank you for reaching out to the community. I’m sorry to hear that your Nest Protect has a power loss error message. I'm glad to help you with the issue you are having. It seems that the power cord is not supplying enough power to the Nest Protect. Could you reply to this thread with the following information:

  • Have you tried to remove the Nest Protect and check if the power wire is properly connected?
  • Is the power wire of your Nest Protect receiving power?
  • Have you restarted the Nest Protect by removing the batteries for 5 minutes?

In the meantime, you can take a look at the following article:Troubleshoot wired Nest Protect power problems.

I’ll be waiting for your reply.

Regards,

Derick.

HI

thanks for replying -

1) yes - power is going to the power cord and it is in properly. It has been working fine for a few months now before suddenly failing

2) tried to take out batteries and re-added after 4-5 hours. - no change

Used a power tester to make sure the power going to the nest protect was working

No joy unfortunatley

Hey there!

Thank you for your reply and providing the information requested. Another troubleshooting we can try is to move the Nest Protect to the base of another one that does work and check if the issue persists.

I'll be looking for your reply.

Best regards,

Derick.

Hi there!

Thanks for your reply and provide the information requested in the previous post. To discard, if it’s a software issue, we can try to do a factory reset on your Nest Protect.

  • Please follow the instructions below:
  1. Remove the Nest Protect from your Nest app.
  2. Press and hold your Protect’s button. It will chime and glow blue. Continue holding the button down.
  3. Release the button when your Protect starts to say its version number.
  4. Your Protect will start a verbal countdown and tell you it’s erasing all your settings.
  5. To cancel the factory reset, press Protect’s button again during the countdown.
  6. After a few seconds, your Protect will reset to its factory default settings.

You can also check out this resource for more information: Reset Nest Protect and erase all settings

Please keep me posted.

Best regards,

Derick.
