My Nest Protect worked great without issue for 2 years. One day it lost connection so I attempted to factory reset it. I also removed it from my Nest app. Now when I insert batteries it:
- says "Hi"
(I press button once)
-says "Ready. Press to test", and glows blue.
I believe it should be saying "ready to setup". but it never does. How do I get it back to setup mode?

Hi atlbraves49,
Thank you for posting in the community. I understand you're having trouble setting up your 2nd gen Nest Protect in the Nest app. I'd be happy to help you with that.
To make sure the factory reset was done correctly, here is a quick review of the key steps:
Press and hold the Nest Protect's button for about 15 seconds. It will chime and glow blue.
Release the button when the device starts a verbal countdown and says it's erasing all settings.
Once the reset is complete, the main indicator that your Nest Protect is ready to pair is a pulsing blue light ring and a voice prompt like "Hi from Nest, press to test" or "Hi, ready, press to test." Since you already see the blue light, please start the pairing process in the Nest app. For guided instructions, see this article: Set up Nest Protect with the Nest app.
Best regards,
Daniel
