Nest Protect - new purchase lost 1 year from expiration

In a bit miffed here at Google, I brought 2 nest Protect items knowing it had an upto 10 year lifespan and that Google mentions that vendors should rotate their stock to keep that lifespan in check.

So just got my order from Google and it's a year less, not as bad as I've seen reported online but equally I'm annoyed I've lost a 1/10th of the duration.

Naturally complained to customer service via chat to see if a rebate for the missing year could be offered but they didn't care unless the product was damaged.

Hi @maedacortez,

I feel a bit cheated out of my money if I'm frank, I rushed to buy these before the stock is depleted and had assumed Google would keep relatively fresh stock.

In also concerned with the depreciation of Nest Protect will other competitors that use the Google Nest framework comes to the UK? I noticed that First alert is the only alternative to Next Protect and it's a US/CA distribution only.

Exactly as you’ve put. 4 devices about to expire, 3 weeks after discontinued notice.

seems UK users are forgotten as they were with the alarm system removal.

the Google Nest app is awful in comparison to the ‘old’ Nest app but that will be next to be killed off.
