Nest-Protect non-wired show ‘Power Out’ message but appears to be working

I am able to run manual sound tests on my Nest Protect by pressing the center button on the device itself or pushing a test through the app.  However, the app history log and device status remain as “Power Out”.

I have experienced this issue and the only way I could resolve it was to remove the device, and add it back in as a new device, which of course you should not really need to do.  Does the faint green LED on the perimeter of the center button flash at a slow rate to indicate there is power?

Hi MW915,

Thanks for reaching out to the Google Nest Community Forum. I'm sorry to hear your Nest Protect is not working as you expected because the app history and status don't show up. So don't worry, I'm here to help.

To troubleshoot the Nest Protect, let's try removing it from your Nest app and reconnecting it. Please hold down the center button of the Nest Protect, then when you hear the notification to erase all settings, continue with the set-up steps. Check out this article to get more information: Reset Nest Protect and erase all settings.

Keep me posted to know how it goes,

Best regards,

Daniel
