Nest protect factory reset

I cannot factory reset my Nest Protect v3.1.3.2. After attempted reset with 10 second count it still reports "Ready. Kitchen. Ready to test." when button is pressed, confirming it will not reset. Similarly, it cannot be added to my Nest account or Wi-Fi.

Thank you for reaching out to the community! I understand you're experiencing difficulties performing a factory reset on your Nest Protect. I know this situation can be frustrating, so let me assist you with this!

First, let's ensure we're performing the factory reset correctly. Please follow these steps:

  • Press and hold the button on your Nest Protect. It will chime and glow blue. Continue holding the button down.
    • Please note that this process may take more than 30 seconds.
  • Release the button when your Nest Protect begins to announce its version number.
  • Your Nest Protect will then start a verbal countdown and indicate that it's erasing all settings.
  • To cancel the factory reset, press the Protect's button again during the countdown.
