Nest protect powered randomly saying Hello and making crackling noises from the speaker

Hi there

I have 3 nest protects which have been installed for a couple of years.

Yesterday one of them started randomly saying Hello and making crackling noises from the speaker.

Has anyone else experienced this and have any ideas how to resolve it?

Thanks for any guidance

Jim

Hi @jim65535

My best suggestion is to do a factory reset for that speaker.

It's a Nest Protect not a speaker but I'll try a factory reset in case that works. I'll let you know.

Morning guys

Sorry for the delay. I did the reset on the Nest Protect at the weekend following the instructions on the google website for this. I also deleted it and readded it to my Nest account.

Fingers crossed, so far the spooky Hello voice hasn't returned 🙂

I'll confirm again if we go a couple of weeks with no problems.

Thanks for the advice.

Glad to hear that worked out for now. If the spooky voice does come back, please do let us know, so we can troubleshoot further. Fingers crossed it doesn't. I am going to lock the thread at this time, and if you run into the issue or have any other questions. Please feel free to create a new post.
