Nest protect too sensitive

I've seen other questions on this but none have been answered satisfactorily. My Nest Protect goes off with normal cooking smoke. I have the steam detector on. I have heads up on. I live in a one-bedroom condo where the kitchen is open to the living room, and the alarm is in the living room section, about twenty-five or thirty feet from the stove. The alarm is hardwired to the building's system so I can't move it to another location. Is there any way to reduce the sensitivity so I can fry an egg without waking half of my neighbors?

Thank you so much for reaching out in this community. I understand that your Nest Protect is activating when it detects smoke from cooking, and you'd like to know if it is possible to reduce the sensitivity to avoid disturbing your neighbors with the noise. I’m here to share more information.

Regarding your concern, there is no setting to manually reduce the overall smoke sensitivity of the Nest Protect itself. This device is designed to meet strict safety standards and, therefore, does not allow users to adjust the fundamental sensor sensitivity for fire/smoke detection.
