Is this a known bug, any way to fix that?
Thanks

Installing a Nest Protect in a garage is not recommended because it can be triggered due to car exhaust and excessive dust in your garage space.
If the Protect is the wired version, it will still work when the AC power goes out because it has backup batteries.
Take the Protect down and see if it has a wiring harness, if it does then check the AC power going to it.

I have the same problem.
But the NEST units are battery operated. So they don't have plugs. How could the power be out?

There are two versions of the Nest Protect, battery and wired.

Just to be clear both the wired and the battery versions have batteries in them.
The battery version has only battery power.
The wired version runs from 120VAC and has a back up battery so it functions during power outage.
