Nest smoke alarm

I have 3 second generation nest protect smoke alarms in my home. None have given me any issues until recently I saw that on the app it said sensor failure on my upstairs hall nest. This one is only 5 months old, very clean, no dust inside. The app said it's sensors failed at 9:13 pm but also a green check saying sensor restored at 9:13 pm. Does anyone know what the problem may be? Could it have potentially been a spider crawled inside or something? Then again I've seen other people say the same thing and it kept happening over and over to them. This is the first time for me so far but it could also happen again? Should I just take it down and replace? I can't afford to have false alarms at random hours especially if I'm not home with a dog who's absolutely terrified of fire alarms and goes beserk. Would be so grateful for any help! I feel like I can't trust the alarm now even though it says sensor restored and the 2 safety check I gave it said all is working fine. Thank you if anyone can help me! That would be great!

Also: There was no steam or anything happening like cooking etc. when it said sensor had failed. It's a quiet hall and just me home at 9:13 pm when it happened. Alarm didnt chirp and didn't trigger app until the next day I saw the yellow bar in daily history giving me heads up, I only knew this happend because I decided to check app casually. The circle might have turned yellow for a brief moment on the nest but I wasnt looking at that moment to know.

Hi Chris59,

Thanks for reaching out to the community! I'm sorry your upstairs hall 2nd gen Nest Protect is showing a sensor failure message on the app. I understand that this may be unsafe considering that you could have false alarms. In some cases, this occurs because dust got into the smoke chamber or steam has set it off. Let's work together to find a solution!

For now I'd like to suggest trying a self test; this will help us diagnose the root of the inconvenience.

Let me know how it goes.

Regards,
Juan

Thanks for your reply. I can do a manual self check soon myself but I want to note that the Nest completed its monthly self check just yesterday and it reported that everything is working fine. Everything had a green check.  Is that just as good as doing a manual self check?

Also, If dust simply floated into the chamber and then back out, then It should be okay and not give false alarms right?  Or do you think I could potentially have false alarms even though the app said sensor restored?

thx so much
