Unable to remove Home from Nest Protect app

EmilioE
Community Member

Instructions on Google help website are invalid on how to remove the Home. I have already two Homes in the Nest Protect app and after getting a new WiFi modem it looks like I will have a 3rd one now. When I try to remove Home from the Nest app, I am getting "Can't remove home. To remove this home, go to Settings in the Google Home app."

But Google Home does not even have a single Settings anymore.

@EmilioE

Are you logging onto the Google Home app with the same Google Account you use for the Google Nest app?

Before deleting a "home" you should remove any Google Nest devices.

Google Nest does not make it easy to change Wi-Fi settings. That's why their first recommendation when getting a new router/modem is to set the network name (SSID) and password to the same values used on the old router/modem.

Otherwise, their procedure is to remove the Google Nest device from the Google Nest app or Google Home app while still connected to the old Wi-Fi network, then performing a factory reset, and then reinstalling.
