2 Wires R and W & Learning Thermostat

Hi there,

I have a 24v thermostat with one Red and one White wire with a heat only boiler system.  When I read up on Nest thermostats on my electric company’s marketplace website, it seemed that the Learning Thermostat would be compatible, but it seems that after having bought it, my electrician who is Nest certified told me over the phone that it may not be compatible.  Before he comes to install, I would like to confirm.  Thank you,

We did the same this and installed it ourselves but are having problems with its heat cycling and are switching back to what we have before it ruins our furnace.

Hi folks,

Thank you for taking the time in letting us know about your inquiry. I'd be happy to take a look into this for you.

In some cases, you may experience odd power issues on your system after installing your Nest thermostat. Connecting the Nest Power Connector or a C wire to it may help resolve the issue. This is to deliver constant power and stabilize the flow of current into the thermostat.

Have a look at this article and let us know if you need more help.

Best regards,

Mark
