2 of 6 Nest Thermostats stopped working on wifi and app

Hi,

I had 6 Nests working fine for 6 months. All of a sudden 2 of them would not connect to my wifi or my app. I have tried every suggestion online. I have restarted, reset, turned off my wifi, tried to connect to another wifi, battery says it is fine. I can connect the thermostats without wifi or connection to the app, so everything else works.

No recent changes to my systems. All the others work fine. I know they are in range of wifi.

Any help would be appreciated.

I will be following this thread. The same thing happened to us. We have been through the troubleshooter multiple times to no avail.

@BillNYC

Just to verify, you have six Nest Learning Thermostats, 3rd Gen. Correct?

How are they wired?

Do any of them have a C wire installed?

Are they wired to individual systems or a zone controller?

Is this a boiler with zone valves? Does it have a zone valve controller?

Hi,

All are hardwired. I have a C wire installed

Each is on an individual Trane brand electric heating/AC forced air unit.

No zone valves.

Thank you

Hello folks,

Thanks for reaching out to our community.

Not being able to get the most out of your Nest thermostats due to them not being able to connect to WiFi is not ideal, but don't worry, let's see what can be done about it!

Do you have any error messages that can help us determine why the thermostat is not connecting to the internet?

I suggest ruling out any interference by checking if your thermostat can connect to the internet via a mobile hotspot.

However, if the thermostat still doesn't seem to be able to connect to the internet even with a hotspot, I suggest you guys fill out this form. Doing so will allow my team to reach out to you directly via email, so we can gather more information and determine the best course of action.

Let me know once you've filled out the form, and I'll keep an eye out for your response.

Regards,
Angel.

Hi,

When I moved 2 of my other Nest Thermostats to the location of the 2 that are not working, they worked fine. I think I need to return the 2 broken ones I have. How do I exchange them for working thermostats?

Thank you

Hello BillNYC,

Thanks for your reply.

Have you followed the troubleshooting steps I outlined earlier? By completing these steps, we can determine why your thermostat isn't connecting to the internet. If you've already tried these steps without success, please feel free to fill out the form above to get in touch with you via email. So we can then discuss more advanced troubleshooting and any other available options to get your thermostat back on track.

Let me know how it goes.
