Early on with Time of Use

I’m using a nest thermostat 4th generation 2024. I’m on time of use rates from 7am to 7pm and that is set up with nest renew energy shift. If I use early on cooling will it respect my peak rates? Essentially I don’t want early on to function if I’m in time of use, but I do want it to function if I am not in peak rates.

Hi @Twennywonn,

Thank you for posting in the community. I understand that sometimes it can be confusing to understand how Nest thermostat works with rush hour rewards, but don't worry, let's work on it.

A Nest thermostat rush hour event will follow the current settings on your thermostat. In this case, if you have early on enabled, before a rush hour event, your system will pre-heat or pre-cool. This is to help prevent you from being woken up by a noisy system or changes in your home's usual temperature.

You can turn off pre-heating or pre-cooling for a rush hour event, but please note that this will also turn off the early on feature for your usual schedules.

If you have any other questions, please let me know.

Best regards,

Lusvin
