3rd Gen Nest Thermostat suddenly can't detect ANY Wifi

I had my gen 1 Nest Thermostat for 7 years with NO ISSUES... Until I had work done on my hvac unit and it accidentally got shorted out when they were working on the system.

I got the 3rd gen 7 months ago and it was great until 3 days ago it decided to stop detecting all wifi signals. It's still under warranty, so support is sending out another unit (which they didn't want to say is refurbished, but finally admitted)

When I googled the issue it seems it's so common that it was all over Google's own forums and Reddit... The Verge even had an article in which it stated the "W5 Error" was so bad the only fix was a replacement. So Google knows it put a subpar product out, and just hopes no one notices? Also, my refurbished replacement doesn't come with a warranty? So if this one breaks in another 7 months I'm screwed...

Everything I have is Google... Pixel 7 Pro, mesh router, Google Fiber, YouTube TV, a nest thermostat... I'm done with google after this.

Hello Gaston213,

I'm sorry to hear you're having an issue with your thermostat that won't find any Wi-Fi networks. I understand it's frustrating, but I'd love to help.

To isolate, is your thermostat showing any message code on its network settings? Also, could you provide a rundown of all the steps you've tried?

I'll look forward to your response.

Regards,

Mark
