3rd Generation Learning Thermostat No Power

Hi All,

Our thermostat said it wasn't getting power to the RH wire. Went through the troubleshooting steps and checked the breaker box. Restarted thermostat and got a low battery message. Charged via USB for 30 minutes and no longer says low battery but still getting the no power message and it's not kicking on the heater. It's 15 degrees in South Texas and my daughters birthday and I would super love to get this resolved soon! We have a call into the company that installed it but thought I might try here as well. Any tips would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks awesome Google community!

We are having same issue.  It is -8 here.  House is at 50 degrees right now.  Charged via USB and still wont kick on heater.  Internet/wifi are working properly in house, no fuses blown anywhere.  Heating company is on the way - but I wish I could resolve this on my own.

Same here, wish following the troubleshooting steps actually worked. Interested to see what your company says. I'll post ours, never know who it could help. Thanks for your reply!

Same at my 90+year old parents home—heating company said buy a new thermostat. Lowe’s has the best on sale til 12/24 at $50 off.

Oop—the Nest not best

Oh wow, that's a bummer. We just got these thermostats in June. Thanks for the heads up on the sale, might be running out to grab one!

I had the same issue, heat working fine until late last night. Just called in and they had me factory reset the unit, heat working fine again. Might wanna try this before getting charged for a HVAC visit

Also in south TEXAS, to be more specific I had to factory reset the NEST thermostat and delete the thermostat from my google home app (since my nest 2020 works off the google app) then go through the process of reinstalling the thermostat like it was new.

Hi everyone,

Thanks for the help, Amcerda.

I suggest factory resetting your Nest Learning Thermostat. Check this guide for more details.

Hey there,

Checking back in should you still have some questions here. Let us know by replying to this thread.

Hi Mel,

yes sorry I forgot to update my thread with all the holiday craziness. Turns out it truly was an electrical issue. The electrical box next to our heating unit over heated and tripped. Was not even aware this box existed! The AC company that installed our units replaced it and the thermostat came back to life! Thanks for checking back in.

Happy New Year!

Hey there TxAggie2001,

Awesome — glad to hear that your issue is fixed. It looks like we can consider this one complete, so I will lock the thread shortly unless I can help out with anything else.

Best,
Mel
