after several years of error-free use, my Nest has started rebooting every hour (or less) due to a low battery) - anyone else had this issue? Best to just replace the unit?

How is the Nest wired?
Can you post a picture of its wiring?

sure thing - I also tested Rc to C and there is no issue with power.
