When we returned from vacation my entryway nest thermostat was off-line. The next day it was connected. Then the next day it was disconnected. Then the display would not turn on after being tapped or walked by several times. So far I have read some editorials on people having the same issue and I have completed all the steps like; reset my router, my thermostat, and the network on the thermostat. I have taken it off of the wall and plugged it back in several times. There has been a prompt that says the “wiring has changed” but based on the diagram, the wiring is still correct. I have not changed the wiring at all. My nest upstairs is fully connected and working properly. So the Wi-Fi issue is puzzling. When I did a factory restart on my thermostat I got all the way to connecting it to my app and had a terrible time finding my network. it finally picked up my Wi-Fi the fifth time but then stopped working when I tried to choose the area in which it was connected to. For example I chose entryway. It thought for a long time and an error message came up on my app. Please help.

Hi Bryson,

Sorry to hear about your display and WiFi issues! Both of those issues must've been an unpleasant surprise after your vacation. I'm happy to look into this for you and see what's going on.

For the "wiring has changed" issue, there may be wires that aren't properly seated, so please make sure all your wires are straight and that there is between ⅓ and ½ inches of copper wire exposed. If not, clip and strip the wire as needed. For the WiFi error, are you seeing any specific error messages on your display? How many electronic devices are in the same room as the thermostat and are they all connected to the same router? Do your phone or other devices connect to WiFi without any issue?

I look forward to your reply and hope we can resolve this together.
