I just replaced my 2nd generation with the new 4th generation. We started with a 1st generation.
With the old ones we had separate schedules for HEAT, COOL, and HEAT+COOL.
We leave the snowy north for the winter and would set the HEAT to 55F 24x7 using different schedules until we get back months later.
I thought "Great, there finally is a real HOLD function!" But the HOLD function only allows me to use HOLD for ONE WEEK? That's not going to work. Why does HOLD not actually, you know, HOLD until I turn HOLD off?
So I tried to mess with changing the presets and created a CUSTOM one for 55F and changed to it by tapping Save.
Now my thermostat shows 55F for heat and 90 for cool (what I set in the CUSTOM schedule) BUT I can't change it back. And when I tap on Schedules it does not show those temps at all. It shows the schedule I created when I set the thermostat up.
If I'm using a CUSTOM schedule shouldn't the thermostat show the CUSTOM schedule when I tap on Schedules? (HINT: Yes, it should.)
Even when I tap on the CUSTOM schedule I created for the temps I want and when (68F/76F), and Save it, the thermostat does not change back. The app says it will hold 55F/90F until my next schedule change at 10:30 PM tonight.
Is this the expected behavior?
No, your thermostat and your developers are not smarter than me for what we want in our home. No, they cannot guess what I want.
No, I do not care at all about saving a few dollars because we are OLD and old people have different thermal regulation of their bodies than young people do.
Yes, we want different inside temperatures when it's 85F outside than when it's 15F outside because the house gets COLD in the winter, and so do we.
Please do not tell me to use Feedback . Over the years I have never received any feedback when I've sent feedback, not even an auto response.

The thermostat works fine. It was wired correctly and the wiring from the old 2nd Generation was swapped over to the 4th generation.
I have all of that garbage turned off including Smart Schedule because no, your developers are not smarted than I am with what we need. I believe I explained that in my first post.
How does the apparent inability to have more than one Schedule have ANYTHING to do with what type of furnace we have?
Hint: IT DOESN'T.
How does the apparent inability to have more than one Schedule have ANYTHING to do with when our furnace last had maintenance?
Hint: IT DOESN'T.
You think you understand my frustration? I hope you understand that your nonsensical non-response just multiplied my frustration tenfold.
I HATE these Artificial Incompetence bots.

Hi @NXR,
Thank you for your response. I understand your concern about my questions regarding the wiring or system type. I am happy to continue assisting you.
To provide you with the right steps to adjust your schedule, I need to see how your Nest Learning Thermostat (4th gen) is wired. If you can send a picture of the wiring, I can make sure we follow the best troubleshooting steps.
Let me know if you have any questions or need more information.
Regards,
Gabriela

I do NOT want to adjust my schedule.
The wiring is irrelevant. The thermostat either has the ability to have a different schedule for each mode or it doesn't.
I'll simplify the question:
Does the 4th generation thermostat have the ability to have SEPARATE schedules saved for HEAT, for COOL, and for HEAT + COOL as the 1st generation, 2nd generation and apparently the 3rd generation thermostat do?
Yes or No, please.
