New 4th gen thermostat installed but I don't have it on my phone or desktop

Hi JNG1,

 

Thank you for posting in the community! I understand you've successfully installed your new Nest Learning Thermostat 4th gen. However, you are unable to see or control it from either your phone or a desktop computer. I'll be more than glad to assist you on this.

The most likely reason for this situation is that your thermostat only works with the Google Home app, not the old Nest app.

To fix this, please follow these steps:

  1. Get the Google Home App: Download and open the Google Home app on your phone.
  2. Add the Device: In the app, tap the + (plus sign) at the top, select Set up a device, and follow the on-screen instructions. The app will prompt you to scan the QR code on the back of the thermostat display.
  3. For your desktop: Go to home.google.com and sign in with the same account to view your device.
