Hi there,
Thanks for reaching out here in the community! I’m sorry to hear that your Nest Learning Thermostat (4th gen) isn't displaying properly in the Google Home app. I can imagine how inconvenient it is that it shows as connected but doesn’t display the temperature.
We appreciate your patience with this. We resolved an issue impacting some Google Nest devices. If you're still experiencing issues, let us know by replying to this post.

Same problem.

Same problem. After talking with Google tech support today, I was told it was a “known” issue and that it is not a problem with my TStat or WiFi. It’s a Google Home server issue and will hopefully be resolved in the next 48 hours. It’s already been a couple of days and I’ve wasted time doing a factory reset and all kinds of troubleshooting until I found this out. I’ve also discovered that the schedule that I built in Google Home is no longer available until this is resolved. The Gen 4 Nest apparently does NOT allow TStat access / modification to the schedule???? So I’m back to a manual set point until Google Home server is fixed? That’s insane!
I have three other zones in my home with Gen 3 stats. I was shocked to find out that the Nest Gen 4 doesn’t work with the very reliable Nest app - only Google Home!!!! Who made THAT decision? I reluctantly accepted this but now the app isn’t working!!!

Same problem for over a week now

I’m still experiencing the same issue as ashorband I contacted customer support and they said it is an app issue and we need to wait for an update. Not cool to forced obsolete people.s next 2nd gen, make them buy 4th gen and then the product doesn’t work. Very, very frustrating.

Hay
yesterday
Mine was working fine until 4-5 days ago with this same issue. Walked through all the troubleshooting steps with support and was told it was a bug being worked on. This post is from a month ago. Where is the fix for this? I bought this thermostat a couple of months ago and it doesn’t work as advertised.
yesterday
I gave up on the Gen 4 and went back to a Gen 3 nest. These are still available on Amazon and at Home Depot and Google is still supporting them. The Gen 4 forced me to use the inferior Google Home app which aside from the recent issues, just doesn’t work as well as the Nest app. I have (4) zones in my home and I wanted them all to be the same.

I get your plan, but they will no doubt sunset the get 3 at some point so they can introduce gen 7 to allow you to make a milkshake and place live bets on your energy bill. I’m just waiting for them to start charging some sort of monthly subscription so I can tell my wife we’re going back to the good old analog thermostats.

After hours! of support calls, it turns out that I was sold a demo device. I bought it directly from Google. They said that this sometimes happens when someone buys from a retailer. Apparently there was a fix for this, but demo devices don't get updated. I am attempting to get a replacement sent, but customer support is a absolute nightmare. If you still have this issue, contact them with the serial number to check if you have a demo device.

This is the most absurd thing I have ever heard. How did you contact them? If you bought it directly from google then how did that happen? Does this means they think they have fixed the issue for other devices? The 4th generation that wasn’t working at all is now suddenly working in the google home app. I still have to replace one more 2nd generation thermostat, but I am waiting until fall weather so I don’t get stuck with it not working and spend days scorching. The fact that google hasn’t followed up or proactively communicated at all is my biggest grievance.

This is still not resolved for me. When I click on Climate, I see a generic Nest Thermostat. Clicking on that still provides a mostly blank screen with an X to close it, a Gear icon that shows Nest (4th gen), name, Home, room and Tech information but no ability to disconnect. It also has three dots that just link to Help or Feedback. Google Home still can’t connect to my Gen 4!

Same exact for me….still

Same here. Do we reload google home?

I’ve tried everything. I’ve manually removed them from the app via the thermostat and reinstalled, that didn’t work. I uninstalled the app completely and reinstalled everything, that didn’t work. I’ve reset my phone and WiFi, also don’t work. These cost almost $300 a pop, it’s not acceptable for them not to work. Ridiculous. I’m hoping someone from google sees this and addresses the issue.

Tried that to no avail. Same blank screen after you reload the app and re logon.

I just called google and was basically told it’s a known issue and their engineers don’t know what the cause is and there’s no ETA to have it fixed, but once they do it will be “announced”, though they couldn’t tell me when or how. Not an acceptable answer when we’re talking about thermostats costing $300 a piece. I asked for a supervisor who is supposed to be calling me back. Ridiculous.

Totally ridiculous. Announced how? I already saw a posting from a @jenniffert that this was resolved. Not for me. I’m about ready to get rid of this Thermostat.

This is happening for me too, told it's a known issue with no resolution time.

Same exact issue here. Google fix this.

I have (4) zones in my home and all had Gen 3 Nests. The app worked great. I had a lightning strike a month ago and lost one of the Stats. HVAC tech told me they no longer sold Gen 3, only Gen 4. Installed it to find out the Nest app didn’t support Gen 4! Only Google Home. I reluctantly accepted it and hooked up Google Home only to experience the frustrating outage for over two weeks - made far worse because of the lack of communications from Google about what was happening. The Gen 4 Stat worked fine and looks great, but I couldn’t access it from Google Home. Google Home connection finally came back online a few days ago and I re experienced the disappointment of using two separate apps.
I found a Gen 3 online yesterday and installed it, added to my Nest app and deleted my Gen 4 stat on Google Home and then deleted Google Home from my devices! I’m back in business. Not only is the Nest app more intuitive and functional for a single Stat, I love the ability to copy/paste a given day from one Stat to another!
If Google obsoletes Gen 3, I’m switching to Honeywell or Ecobee. Does anyone need a 1 month old, barely used Gen 4? Make me an offer.
