I just installed a basic nest thermostat and my AC is kicking on rather than my gas heat.
I have wires B (I think it’s the common), G, Y, W, R. I also had a jumper wire hooked from R to RC but obviously did not install that to my nest.
I have factory reset, uninstalled and reinstalled the nest thermostat multiple times, and it doesn’t help. None of my wires are crossed. W is with white, Y is with yellow, etc.
I have since reinstalled my old thermostat and the heat works properly.

Hello Mellissa,
I'm sorry for the late response, and thank you for taking the time to let us know about your inquiry. I'd be happy to take a look at this for you.
I appreciate the steps you have taken. It's most likely a wiring configuration that causes your AC to turn on when in heat mode. Since it's a newly installed Nest Thermostat, could you share with us a photo of your old thermostat and the Nest Thermostat's wiring setup? Also, tell me more about your HVAC system. Is this a conventional system, heat pump, etc., and what's its make and model?
I'll look forward to your response.
Best regards,
Mark
