AC runs in about one minute cycles, starting and stopping every couple minutes.

AC runs in about one minute cycles, starting and stopping every couple minutes. Thermostat is set at 65° F and room temperature is 70°F.

@deann1965, a detailed fault analysis is necessary to determine if this is a problem with the thermostat or if there is an internal problem with the HVAC equipment. You could have either a high-pressure system fault or a low pressure system fault in your HVAC system. What can be done is to use a voltmeter and look for the call signal coming from the thermostat at the air handler and see if that call for cooling comes and goes after a minute of running time.  if the call for cooling remains on in the system, turns off then there’s a fault somewhere in the HVAC system.
