I have a second generation thermostat. Recently the Home/Away activity log is not recording. It says "No events" even when there has been activity. It still switches from Home to Away (& Vice versa) when somebody is at Home or Away. How do I fix this? It has worked fine for years.
Many thanks

Hi hatos,
Thanks for reaching out. Is there a time that you have to restart your thermostat? if yes, how did you do it?
The issue could show up on any version of the Nest app (iOS, Android, and Web).
The issue may happen the Nest thermostat went through a non-orderly restart at some point that day. A non-orderly restart simply means the thermostat wasn’t restarted properly by selecting Settings Reset Restart in the thermostat interface.
Best,
Jenelyn

Thank you for your post.
I have tried resetting the thermostat 3 times using the method you describe. Unfortunately it makes no difference

Hi folks,
@hatos, Thanks for posting and sorry for the delay ― let’s see what’s going on.
To confirm, is your Nest Thermostat updated? If not, go to your thermostat’s display, then go to Settings > Software > Update. Make sure that your device is connected to the Internet when updating.
Let us know how it goes.
I appreciate your help, Jenelyn.
Regards,
Zoe

Thanks for your reply. Yes it is connected. The lastest software is 5.9.4-5 and was last updated on 24 September 2019. It is currently recording but it has done this before and then will suddenly stop recording. Very odd

Hi there hatos,
I'm sorry for the delay. I know it's been a while now. How's your Nest Thermostat's Energy History? You mentioned before that it is recording. Did the issue come back?
Thanks for the input, Zoe.
Kind regards,
Jenelyn

Thank you. It seems to be all working now. I am not sure why it stopped but it is OK at the moment

Hello everyone,
I appreciate your assistance here, Jenelyn.
Thanks for the update, @hatos. This usually happens if the thermostat goes through a non-orderly restart at some point in the day. A non-orderly restart simply means the thermostat wasn't restarted properly by going to its settings. But I'm glad to hear your activity logs are now showing.
If you come across this and need more help, feel free to start a new post.
Regards,
Mark
