Alexa and E thermostat problem

Kenneth1940

Replaced my router/modem with a new Motorola MG7550. I connected my TV, phones, 2 laptops with the password on the bottom of the router.  The E thermostat won't connect to Alexa.

Found the network on the thermostat. The same one I used to connect everything else. Checked the password numerous times, the same one I used to connect to everything else.

Thermo says it's online as does Alexa. But when I ask Alexa to change the temp, it says looking for device but it's unable to find it. Responds to every other command.  HELP!

Hi Kenneth1940,

Oh no! Let's get this sorted out, Ken. What country are you in? Is your thermostat currently connected to your WiFi? If your Alexa can't find your thermostat, this is caused by removing a thermostat and the Alexa app not syncing that information. You will have to manually unlink Nest and/or forget the Nest Thermostat(s) in the Alexa app, or have a look at the following:

  1. Family member has migrated, but the owner hasn’t.
    • If there are multiple members in a home, then make sure that you as the account owner has migrated their account.
    • Sometimes it’s worth checking if your family members have migrated just to be sure.
  2. Logged into the wrong account. Do the following:
    • In the top right hand corner of the Nest app, click the Settings icon.
    • Select Account to check which account was signed into.
    • Make sure the email address being used is the one you connected to the Nest account during the migration from Nest to Google.
      • The customer can look for their migration confirmation email to check which email is associated with your new migrated Google account.
  3. No devices in Nest account.
    • Make sure the you are using the correct email address that is associated with the Nest account in question.
  4. Wrong Home.
    • Does your account have multiple homes? If so, make sure that you selected the correct one from the picker at the top.
  5. You may be trying to connect a device or unsupported connection in the Partner Connections tool.
    • Only the Nest Thermostat, Nest Camera/Doorbell, and Nest Hub Max are supported.

Keep us posted. We're happy to help.

Best,

Zoe
