Alternative Heat trigger realistic number Canada -25c

Hi,

I just installed a high efficiency cold climate heat pump. I live in Canada. My heat pump is the primary heat with an electric resistance back up.

The heat pump is 90% efficient at -15c and works until -30c. I would love to find a way to modify that alternative Heat trigger. I want to  use the 2 sources at the same time if require at -20c and only the alternative when lower than -30c. Yes it does happen here.

Does anybody know how to change this?

Why did Google put a limit for the alternative Heat trigger?

Thanks

Hello jgardnerstewart,

Thanks for reaching out, and I'm sorry for the late response.

I understand that Auxiliary heat is a backup method that your heat pump uses when the weather outside is too cold for the heat pump to work efficiently. Adjusting the Heat Pump Balance settings would help. So I did find a helpful article about it, and let us know if you have more questions.

Regards,
Mark
