App no longer working

Today my App stopped working.

I found myself re-reregistering via Google ( not sure if this was what I did 5 months ago but think not )

I now have a Nest app landing screen with the familiar home icon and an ‘add a device’ button below.  Tapping the home icon does nothing and when trying to register the thermostat I get a message on the thermostat screen that tells me that it’s already registered.

Ive tried reinstalling the App but still end up not being able to see any details.

Not sure how to resolve.

Thank you for posting in the community. I'm sorry to hear that your Nest app stopped showing your thermostat today, even though the thermostat itself indicates it's already registered to an account. I appreciate your efforts in taking those steps before. I'm happy to help you!

To help me find the best solution, I'll need to ask you a few questions:

  • When you first set up your Nest thermostat about 5 months ago, do you remember if you created a specific Nest account (using an email and password) or if you used the "Sign in with Google" option back then?
  • What model of Nest thermostat do you have?
  • Do you have the latest version of the Nest app?
  • Do you have multiple Google accounts (e.g., personal, work)? Is it possible you accidentally signed into the Nest app with a different Google account than the one linked to your thermostat?
  • Have you recently received any emails or in-app messages asking you to migrate your Nest account to a Google account?
  • Can you try logging into the Nest website (home.nest.com) using the Google account you think should be associated with your thermostat? Do you see your thermostat listed there?
  • When the app "stopped working" today, what exactly did you see? Did it log you out automatically? Did it show an error message? Or did your devices just disappear from the screen?
