App says heating 24 hours a day

I've had a Nest thermostat for many years that has worked without problems until the last update. The Google Home app shows the system is now heating 24 hours a day even when set to off. In the Nest app the screen is orange and says heating but the air is on. The history shows correctly that it was cooling for a few hours a day though. The display on the thermostat is correct. There have been no changes to anything physically and this looks like it started with the update in April to version 6.2-27.

Hi AndroidTom,

Thanks for reaching out. I'm sorry to hear that you're having an issue with the Google Home app not showing the status of your Nest Thermostat correctly. To isolate the issue, could you try clearing the cache of your Google Home app?

Let us know how it goes.

Thanks,

Edward

Hi AndroidTom,

It's me again. I wanted to check back in to see if you have other questions and concerns. Feel free to let me know if you do.

Thanks,

Edward

Clearing the cache of the nest app and the home app did nothing.

Hi AndroidTom,

Thanks for the update. What does the Google Home app shows when you change the mode of your Nest Thermostat on the app?

Thanks,

Edward

It's set to cool, but says heating in blue letters with an orange background. The air coming from the heat pump is cool like it's supposed to be. If I change it to heat, the letters change to orange with an orange background and hot air comes from the heat pump. If I turn it off there is still an orange background.

Hi AndroidTom,

Thanks for reply. Have you tried uninstalling and reinstalling the app? Also, what's the version of your Google Home app?

Thanks,

Edward

Reinstalling made no changes. Nest app 5.68.0.12 and Home app 2.53.1.5

Hi AndroidTom,

Thanks for the update. Just to isolate the issue, could you try signing in to the Nest app or the Google Home app using a different device?

Thanks,

Edward

My husband and I are experiencing the exact same issue with our Nest app. Shows orange background and says heating when it’s set to cool. It’s been like this for a couple days now.

Factory reset on the thermostat and remove/readd to app looks like it worked. Now I just have to rebuild my schedules.

Hey folks,

AndroidTom, thanks for keeping updated on what you've done to resolve your concern although you need to redo your schedule. Still, we're glad everything is back to the way it should be.

Sweetkiki2011, sorry to hear that you're experiencing the same concern. You might want to try doing a factory reset just like @AndroidTom did.
