App says offline but thermostat is online

Hi

Consistently getting issues where I use the app to turn heat on but it says offline . Walk down to the thermostat and it’s online 

have reset thermostat , removed app and installed it again and works for a day then starts issues again. 

No wifi issues with any devices at home. Thermostat has never disconnected always ok and no errors . When I try Alexa to put heat on it says not connected to wifi . also have google home app working all ok 

many further ideas please 

I think it’s second generation. Had it 4 years
