I replaced the two AAA batteries that came with the Thermostat when it reported that the batteries were low. I installed alkaline not being aware that the originals were rechargeable Lithium ! I have a 'C; wire installed delivering 24VAC so do I still need the batteries at all and if I do then should I buy a new pair of rechargeable or just go with the alkaline ?
Thanks for you considerations

This will depend on which thermostat you have. However, if you were able to replace them it is probably the "Nest Thermostat".
The batteries assist when there is a power outage, low power, or the furnace is turned off at the unit or the circuit breaker. You should ensure it has batteries.

Yes it is the basic Thermostat. So the type of battery doesn't matter then. Google supplies rechargeable as a curtesy to the customer I guess so we wouldn't have to keep changing them. Good to know.
Thanks

Going through set up for gen. 3 smart thermostat and accidentally selected fuel fuel. Now the system is locked in a loop and will not allow to change my selection and tells me to call a installer. What do I need to do to clear the system and start over.

Should read duel fuel.

Hi 40danceman5,
Thanks for reaching out and we're sorry for the delay.
You could check the equipment selection in settings > select equipment > choose the right heat type and source. Try to test the equipment as well.
Let me know how it goes by replying to this thread.
Best regards,
Ryan

Hey Ryan Thanks. I attempted a power test after installing a 'C' wire and relocating my WIFI extender to the thermostat's proximity but my Canadian model 1.4 (mirror face) doesn't seem to have that programming. Probably present in the "E" types and "Learning" models. I run the test but it flips back to the initial screen. As for batteries I have replaced the Alkaline with rechargeable Lithium as supplied when new. No point in trying to rewrite the book ! It seems to be functioning now as advertised but I'm not relaxing just yet.
