Battery for gen 1 nest learning thermostat

Low battery came on yesterday, can't find where we buy a new one. Model doesn't match online specs and when I search it tells me I need a battery that's totally different from what's in the Nest. We shut down and it recharged while we slept and Nest is back up running today. I want to order a battery so it's here if it happens again but I'm beyond frustrated.

Nest Learning Thermostat doesn't have a replaceable battery. Your thermostat uses the voltage from your system’s wires to keep its internal battery charged.  If there’s a problem and your thermostat can’t get enough power, the internal battery can drain. I'd recommend reading the guidance in the "blinking red light on your thermostat" section of this help article.

Hello!

Read the guidance and it said a totally different battery to use if it kept saying low battery, it has recharged itself and I know it’s suppose to do that but it wouldn’t do anything and kept saying low battery. It has recharged again, we’ve had the thermostat awhile so we’re familiar with it but the instructions kept saying different as I said. Also, no lights were blinking at all just low battery.

Thank you for your help!

Hello Jake,

Our nest starting to act up even after the battery was fully charged, we ended up replacing it with the newest generation and all is working well with the new one.

Thank you for your message,

I have a model diamount-1.10 thermostat.  It has gone offline saying low battery.  Should I take it from this thread that this has no replaceable battery and the only option is to discard the thermostat and buy a new one?

Hello,

Mine did recharge when we plugged it back in and left it but it also started doing other things so we bought a new one and it’s been running great! I’d let your Nest re-charge itself overnight, we’ve done this and it has worked before the latest issue prompting us to buy new. It was on sale at CT and there was an instant rebate also to use on it….
