Hi, I got a Nest thermostat and having a problem with the c wire. my q. If C wire only to power the thermostat, can I just connect a bridge between R or W. By the way I have only a heating system steam boiler.
Thank you

Hello comacho244,
Welcome to the Google Nest Community! I'd be happy to take a look at this for you.
The C wire, or common wire, is typically used to provide a constant power supply to the thermostat. Connecting a bridge between R (power) and W (heat) might work in some cases, but it's not the ideal solution as the Nest Thermostats don't require a jumper wire.
Instead, it's recommended to use a dedicated C wire for a more stable power supply. If your heating system doesn't have a C wire, you may explore alternative solutions, such as using an external transformer to provide power or utilizing a device like the Nest Power Connector.
Let us know if you have more questions.
