Can I use a US part for UK version thermostat?

Hi,
I have a couple of Nest Thermostat 3rd Gen and they're not working. After investing a meaningful time with the customer service and online forums, it turned out I need to buy new ones or fix the boards and/or batteries by myself. I found a board part on ebay US but my thermostats are UK versions. I wonder if I can use US version part to UK model. Unless, it would be very helpful if someone informs me where I can get UK version parts.
Hope my question is relevant to this community. If not, please kindly understand as we don't have that many Nest users in my country and I have nowhere else to ask.

Thanks,

What is wrong with the thermostats you have to start of?

One has W5 error. The other one seems to have battery issue but some told me it could be the circuit board problem.

W5 is a chip failure, and unless you can reball the wifi module, don't waste your time.

Battery issue could be anything, what are the symptoms?

I found someone fixed W5 error with new circuit board and would like to try as it's way cheaper. The second one's battery seems just dead. I can't recharge. I will order a new battery.

The PCB from the USA will be pointless as they use another firmware version. Unless you can change the firmware, which you will not be able to as Google will not release that. You also have to be 100% sure the wifi chip hasn't failed from the donar board.

The battery issue could be drained that much it's not registering, and the way I get round that is using a micro charger. Obviously I would try another battery first just to make sure, from the other stat.

I have a box of used faulty parts, but cannot gaurantee what works and which one does not.

Hi, folks!

@terabass, thank you for posting in the community. We don't recommend fixing or modifying the circuits of the Nest Learning Thermostat's 3rd gen by yourself because improper handling of the components could cause damage to both the Nest Learning Thermostat (3rd Gen) and the Heat Link in the case of the UK model. @Frustratedddd, thank you for the help provided.

You can keep posting if you have any other questions.

Regards,

Derick.
