Can my old, "manual," round thermostat with two wires (28.1 V AC) convert to a smart thermostat?

I would like to upgrade my old, round, "manual" (28.1 v ac) thermostat to a smart, "wifi" Nest. Will the 2 wires accommodate the conversion. My heating system is 21 years old.

I would be glad to help you out. With your system being an older model, there is a chance it may not be compatible. I would recommend having a Nest Pro come out and take a closer look at your system. They would be able to determine if the system is compatible and install that no problem for you. Let me know if you have any other questions from here.
