Can only have Heat or AC displayed as a choice - not both

I have the latest Nest Version 1.1-9 - released June 7, 2021 and recently it has only allowed me to choose heat or AC as a choice. When needing the AC I had to fully disconnect and re-set up the entire thermostat to have AC turn on. Now, it is getting chilly again and I need to heat on, but to do that I have to fully disconnect and reinstall again...which does not seem correct.

Why does this Nest not allow me to toggle from heat to AC? Only the snowflake displays right now. I would like to have the snowflake and heat flame both on my display as an option to change when it is 40 degrees at night and 80 during the day.

Thanks for reaching out. I understand that it could be frustrating to rewire your thermostat every time you need to switch from cooling to heating. I'd love to know more about this and I have a few questions:

• What Nest Thermostat do you have?
• What is the make and model of your HVAC system
• How is your Nest Thermostat wired?
