Can’t Connect Nest Thermostat

We bought a house with the learning thermostat. Not loving it! We came home and the house was a chilly 18C, we like to keep our house at 21C all the time. I downloaded the app on my iPad. Was able to connect to the thermostat. Couldn’t figure out how to erase the previous owners setting. Decided to reset thermostat to factory setting. My thermostat is connected to my wifi but not to the app. Through the settings on the app I chose QR code, which I did prior to the reset. The QR code now takes me to the website, don’t know what to do. Like I said I am not enjoying this thermostat! Help!

Hi there,

It looks like the previous owner forgot to disconnect the device from their account, so you will need to go through the setup process from the beginning (seems like you already did a reset to unlink the previous owner).

From what you have said it seems like it may be already working, so you should be able to use the steps from this article to help guide you through the setup process: https://support.google.com/googlenest/answer/10125150

Assuming the device was previously setup correctly, you should be able to start from Step 5 opening the Google Home app, tap "Add" > "Set up device" > "New device," and when prompted to scan, select "Already installed" to add your thermostat using its entry key or QR code.

When it opens a webpage, it probably wants you to sign in to your Google Account so that it can associate the device with your account/home.

My son has a Google Nest, he came and helped me. He removed the thermostat from the app and added it back in. Just had to sight into my wifi, it’s working!
